about oil & clay

Oil & Clay is an art studio located in historic downtown Norman, Oklahoma.

Some fun facts:

Where did the name Oil & Clay Studio come from? The studio is named after the teachers, Nora & Louisa. While both teachers work in all different mediums, Nora is an oil painter and Louisa is a clay potter!

Where did it all begin? In a home-based studio garage, actually! Nora and Louisa began Oil & Clay Studio in the summer of 2015. They took a one car garage and filled it with folding tables, art supplies and good music. Oil & Clay Studio moved to Main Street in 2017, opening a store front for local shoppers and participating in events like art walk and EDO (east downtown) community events. Navigating a global pandemic while teaching classes and producing art shifted the long-term vision for the studio. By 2022, Nora & Louisa found a new home for their creative dreams. Now located at 315 E. Gray Street, Oil & Clay Studio is nested behind a local restaurant, offering a more private environment for classes and a space for its owners to pursue their work.
